Normandale Community College was one of three colleges and universities to be named a Gold Award recipient for the 2026 Governor’s Workplace Safety Awards.
Over 220 organizations in the State of Minnesota received Governor’s Workplace Safety Awards in Gold, Silver and Bronze categories. Normandale was one of 43 organizations to receive Gold category honors. To be in the Gold category, you had to achieve an incidence-rate better than the 75th percentile of both state and national average.
Every year, the Minnesota Safety Council and partners recognizes and celebrates employers throughout the State of Minnesota for safety and health excellence in protecting our workforce from injuries, illnesses and incidents.
To be considered for a Minnesota Governor’s Workplace Safety Award, an organization must submit an application that includes general information regarding the employer’s organization, elements of the employer’s safety/health management systems and the injury/illness information for the previous three years.
Recipients of the awards were honored at the annual Minnesota Safety and Health Conference on May 5-6 at Mystic Lake Center.
